Abstract:Speech given by Federal Highway Administrator (1993-1997) Rodney E. Slater to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the interstate highway system implementation from 1956. After participating in a cross-country trip in 1996, similar to the one Dwight D. Eisenhower did in 1919, he returned to give a speech on the effect the Interstate highway system had on the United States, and the achievements met from it.
