Five bridges were constructed utilizing UMaine’s hybrid composite arch technology as part of the Maine

Department of Transportation’s Composites Initiative. Three were constructed in 2010, one in 2011 and the final

one in 2012. The designs for each of the first four were completed in 2010 and the final design of the Grey’s Brook

Bridge in Ellsworth, Maine (2012 construction) was completed in 2011 using lessons learned from the construction

of the 2010 bridges. Highlights of the construction process, lessons learned, inspection observations, and load testing

are presented in this report for the first four bridges (2010 and 2011 seasons).
