Abstract:

Driver Information Radio using Experimental Communication Technologies: The purpose of the simulation evaluation is to assess the expected future impacts of the direct technologies under scenarios of full deployment. This provided some indication of the level of benefits that can be expected from direct in the future. Because deployment of some of the direct communications systems required purchase of special receivers for the vehicle, and installation of expensive roadside communications devices along the included corridors, full deployment (i.e., all vehicles and all corridors) was expensive to test in the field.
