  This report is Appendix E; Evaluation of Instrumentation, of the final report for a study involving the static vertical load testing of a full scale, instrumented pile group. The test group consisted of nine pipe piles instrumented for settlement, load transfer, pore pressures, total pressures and inclination. Appendix E describes in detail problems encountered with the various pile and soil instrumentation systems, documents transducer performance, describes pile calibration, and describes the procedure used for fitting strain gage data. Sources and evaluation of errors in deformation measurements are also considered.
