Description:This report documents the on-site investigation of a side-impact crash involving a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander and a 2002 Ford F-250, which resulted in fatal injuries to the Mitsubishi's second-row right passenger (belted 8-month-old male) who was seated in a rear-facing child restraint system (CRS). The Mitsubishi was driven by a 31-year-old belted female and was also occupied by a belted 5-year-old female in a booster seat at the second-row left seat position. The driver sustained police-reported incapacitating (A-Level) injuries and the second-row left passenger sustained police-reported non-incapacitating (B-level) injuries. Both were transported to a local hospital where they were treated. The extent of treatment for the driver and second-row left passenger is unknown. The Ford was occupied by a restrained 38-year-old male driver who was not injured.
