Description:

The Colorado Department of Transportation is attempting to change its method of acceptance of hot mix asphalt (HMA). Currently, HMA is accepted based upon asphalt content and gradation. It has been previously shown that the volumetric properties of HMA relate to field performance. Volumetric acceptance of HMA is planned within the next five years. The purpose of this report is to describe three pilot projects that used the specification.
