Abstract:Connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) enhance transportation efficiency, reduce costs, and improve safety through cooperative driving automation (CDA), which enables communication and cooperation among vehicles, infrastructure, and road users. However, the existing infrastructure is designed for conventional vehicles and human drivers. The "Infrastructure Enablers for Reliable CDA" project addresses this challenge by evaluating the readiness of existing infrastructure. This Phase I report, "Infrastructure Enablers for Reliable CDA: Existing Infrastructure Evaluation," explores CDA sensing technologies, infrastructure features, platooning experiment design guidelines, and co-simulation for testing support.
