Abstract:

This report on the administration of the Department of Transportation's (DOT) Pipeline Safety Program is prepared as prescribed by Sections 16 of the Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act of 1968 and 213 of the Pipeline Safety Act of 1979, PL 96-129. The Pipeline Safety Act of1979, besides amending the Natural Gas Pipeline Safety Act of 1968, Title I, included a Title II which created the Hazardous Liquid Pipeline Safety Act of 1979. This report therefore describes the Department's activities during calendar year 1982 to promote and influence the safe transportation of both natural gas and hazardous liquids through the Nation's network of pipelines.
