Abstract:This report explores the application of microfiber reinforcement as an alternative strategy for stabilizing weak subgrade soils, particularly in roadway construction. The study evaluates the effectiveness of microfiber reinforcement by conducting a comprehensive literature review and performing a series of experimental tests, including Unconfined Compressive Strength (UCS) tests and Large-Scale Track Wheel (LSTW) tests. The experiments were designed to assess the impact of varying microfiber contents (0% to 1% by weight) on the strength, stiffness, and overall performance of Nebraska soils. The findings indicate that microfiber reinforcement can significantly enhance the mechanical properties of weak soils, with the UCS results showing an increase in strength and the LSTW tests demonstrating improved resistance to deformation.
