Connected Vehicle (CV) communication technology (i.e., Vehicle-to-Everything, V2X) enables vehicles to "talk" to other vehicles on the road (Vehicle-to-Vehicle, V2V), roadside infrastructure (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure, V2I), vulnerable road users (Vehicle-to-Pedestrian, V2P), and the "cloud" (vehicle-to-network, V2N). The V2X connectivity will provide more precise knowledge of the traffic situation across the entire road network and vehicle awareness of surroundings, which in turn will help to: · Reduce accidents by providing drivers with warning about potential danger at intersections and/or aiding automated driving. · Ease traffic congestion through real-time optimization of traffic flow and platooning; and thereby cut fuel consumption and reduce emissions.
