This report provides information about family trips and travel from the point of view of the family life cycle, using data from the 1977 Nationwide Personal Transportation Study. Daily travel characteristics of families in stages of four life cycles are presented. The life cycles represented include the traditional family life cycle, consisting of a husband, wife and their dependent children. In addition, the report describes the travel characteristics of stages in the single-parent families, childless married couples, and single persons living alone.
