Sharing location-based information and positioning vehicles with respect to that information has been one of the fundamental challenges in intelligent transportation for over two decades. As Connected and Automated Vehicles (C/AVs) and related data-intensive transportation network management solutions start to emerge, this research project assesses what map information is needed and how do we best communicate it to current and emerging Vehicle to Everything (V2X) devices to support safety and mobility applications? In an effort to close the gap in knowledge in this field, USDOT is funding research to determine the core set of application needs and gaps in current map data standards and processes to support V2X applications. As part of this effort, this document provides a report on the five tasks on this project. It integrates all deliverables into a single compilation that shows the evolution of our understanding and provides detailed research and analysis results.
