Abstract:This research presents a statistical approach for estimating truck volumes, based primarily on classification counts and information on roadway functionality, employment, sales volume and number of establishments within the state. Models have been created that may predict truck volumes, flows and percentages at any given location in the state highway network. Profiles of truck traffic are developed for selected roadways, indicating the AADT, truck and passenger car volumes and percentages. The procedure has been modeled into a GIS framework, facilitating data analysis and presentation.
