Abstract:

This document helps promote a deeper understanding of the responsibilities, opportunities, and benefits derived from addressing environmental justice (EJ) in transportation planning and implementation. The four topic chapters focus on foundational issues or emerging trends and highlight noteworthy case studies and best practices that promote EJ in transportation decisionmaking. The topics addressed are: transit and affordability, public involvement, livability, and road pricing mechanisms.
