This document has been prepared to describe how the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (US DOT) Five- Year Strategic Plan for Professional Capacity Building for ITS Transportation Management and Traveler Information Services is being implemented, as of September 30, 1997. It provides a brief status report as of that date, and it describes the framework for proceeding in FY 1998 and beyond. it is limited in this edition to Metropolitan transportation management and traveler information infrastructure deployment and services because those efforts were the first to be developed by U.S. DOT.
