• Abstract:
  Connected vehicle wireless data communications can enable safety applications that may reduce injuries and ; fatalities suffered on our roads and highways, as well as enabling reductions in traffic congestion and impacts on ; the environment. As a critical part of achieving these goals, the U.S. DOT contracted with a Team led by Battelle ; to integrate and validate connected vehicle on-board equipment (OBE) and safety applications on selected Class ; 8 commercial vehicles and to support those vehicles in research and testing activities that provide information and ; data needed to assess their safety benefits and support regulatory decision processes. Driver Clinics are being ; conducted as a part of this project to evaluate acceptance of the connected vehicle technology and safety ; applications by drivers who are previously unfamiliar with the technology. ; This document describes the hardware to be installed in Integrated Trucks, how it will be installed, and how this ; installation will be tested.
