Connected vehicle wireless data communications can enable safety applications that may reduce crashes,
;
injuries, and fatalities suffered on our roads and highways, as well as enabling reductions in traffic congestion and
;
effects on the environment. As a critical part of achieving these goals, the USDOT contracted with a Team led by
;
Battelle to integrate and validate connected vehicle on-board equipment (OBE) and safety applications on
;
selected Class 8 commercial vehicles and to support those vehicles in research and testing activities that provide
;
information and data needed to assess their safety benefits and support regulatory decision processes.
;
This document describes application requirements for CCV-IT specific safety applications, including Forward
;
Collision Warning (FCW), Intersection Movement Assist (IMA), Blind Spot Warning / Lane Change Warning
;
(BSW/LCW), Emergency Electronic Brake Lights (EEBL), and Curve Speed Warning (CSW). It also describes
;
key software modules, application scenarios, and basic assumptions.
