Abstract:

The overall goal of the Heavy Duty Truck Travel (HDT) Survey was to collect representative truck travel data for selected sites in California. An integral aspect of the project was a literature search and inventory study of freight data survey collection methods. Additional study objectives included 1) Development of procedures to acquire basic truck travel data 2) Actual conduct of data collection, 3) Collection of data useful to the identification of relationships between economic activity and truck travel patterns, and 4) Collection of data for analysis of commodity flow throughout California.
