Abstract:Roads have varied ecological impacts on the adjacent plant and soil environment due to physical and chemical disturbances resulting from roadway construction, roadside maintenance, and vehicle deposition. The two main areas influenced by a road are the roadside right-of-way and vegetated region just beyond the right-of-way, which often consists of a semi-natural habitat with some native species.
