During the month of June, 1973, the plastic concrete surface of a section of Interstate 10 in the Baton Rouge area was textured using several different texturing techniques, such as burlap drag, brooms and metal tines. The purpose of this experimental research project was to learn which would perform the best in regard to skid resistance, nonhydropolaning properties, durability noise levels and uniformity.
