Description:The research team developed step-by-step installation and troubleshooting guidelines for the Utah Department of Transportation Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) system (v4.3) and the UTA-In-Motion platform. Both systems were packaged into a single Docker image, reducing installation time from about 20 hours to 1 hour while eliminating native-host compatibility issues. Controller support for the ATSPM-in-the-loop simulation package was expanded to Q-Free, Econolite, McCain, and Yunex platforms, and a hardware-in-the-loop interface was developed to connect traffic simulation software with physical traffic signal controllers and cabinets. A corridor case study in the Austin District integrated 23 intersections across multiple controller brands using built-in, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation methods, demonstrating a complete signal-optimization workflow with ATSPM outputs. Artificial intelligence-augmented videos and courseware support instructor-led and self-paced learning.
