• Abstract:
  This report presents the extent of in-vehicle mobile broadband coverage along national highways and around hazardous waste generator locations with results summarized by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) region. Mobile broadband coverage is based on data for three main service providers (AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile) as published by the Federal Communications Commission National Broadband Map. Nationally, coverage is widespread, with mobile broadband accessible along 92% of road miles in the National Highway System and for 99% of hazardous waste generators. For most generator locations outside of coverage areas, mobile broadband access is less than a minute drive away. Still, small disparities exist between EPA regions, and the on-the-ground experience at individual sites will vary.
