This report documents the development, testing, and evaluation of a Remotely Controlled Truck-Mounted Attenuator (RCTMA) system designed to enhance roadside responder safety through tele-operated vehicle deployment. Built on Kratos's ATMA platform, the RCTMA integrates servo-controlled steering, throttle, and braking with 360° video monitoring and a Control Console (C2) for remote operation. Two rounds of field testing evaluated the system's functional reliability, communication latency, braking performance, visibility, and video quality under real-world conditions. Results demonstrated successful remote operation with consistent control and emergency stop performance, although video pixelation and occasional communication latency spikes were noted. The study found that while the RCTMA is viable as a proof-of-concept, full autonomy requires further integration of remote ignition, gear control, and active obstacle detection. Recommendations include pilot deployments, improved video bandwidth management, and hardware upgrades to move the system toward operational readiness.
