Due to the nature of transportation cybersecurity problems, it is usually too risky to evaluate the attack models in real-world environments. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a simulation environment to validate the proposed models and evaluate the impact on the transportation system in terms of safety and mobility. This project develops realistic simulation environments that include 1) supporting testing of various connected and automated transportation applications from individual vehicle level, traffic level, to the network level; and 2) integrating different attack models and evaluating the impact of certain cyber-attacks on connected and automated transportation applications. Toward these goals, we develop various APIs for the simulation environments that incorporate data spoofing attacks, route guidance attacks, and federated learning-based security.
