When digital technology is employed to perform some function aboard aircraft, the designer documents the technology and the applicant presents a package to the Certification Engineer (CE). Typically, the package might include design and test specifications, test plans, and test results for the system. This package assures the CE that the designer has properly developed and validated the system. Software Quality Metrics (SQM) may be used during the software (SW) development and testing.
