Abstract:The primary goal of this project is to improve desert tortoise connectivity and crossings by developing creative site-specific designs, including implementation-ready plans, specifications, and estimates for the retrofit of four culverts along SR160. The Desert Conservation Program (DCP) considers the selected culverts as grades 3 or 5 which characterizes the locations as either impassable or with conditions that are either difficult and/or hazardous for desert tortoise passage. The goals/deliverables for this Project are:• Identify four culvert crossings along Nevada State Route 160 (SR160) to evaluate and retrofit into desert tortoise culvert crossings with minimal to low maintenance requirements• Obtain topographical surveys to develop designs and plans• Produce final report documents that provide details and a summary of the design efforts performed• Provide implementation-ready construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
