Abstract:

This tenth annual report, issued by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) Office of Safety, combines rail-highway crossing accident/incident statistics with the National Rail-Highway Crossing Inventory. Accident/incident data is compiled from monthly reports filed by railroads. The National Rail-Highway Crossing Inventory contains sight-survey data about individual crossings and is provided by states and railroads. This year a new appendix has been added that contains information concerning trespassers who were killed or injured as a result of railroad operations.
