• Abstract:
  The primary objective of this report is to establish and ensure an understanding of the methodology to be employed in the aerodynamic mathematical model development and of the dependence of these mathematical models on the physical models. This dependence is characterized by the requirement of empirical input for the mathematical model. For any underground subway system, or portion thereof, for which air flow rates resulting from train piston action are to be analyzed, all physical and geometrical parameters end all train performance characteristics must be taken into account, as exemplified by the numerical analysis contained in the Appendix of this report.
