Abstract:

The first National Youth Traffic Safety Conference, "SURVIVAL '71",brought together over 120 young people from every part of the country to explore the nation's highway transportation system as it relates to youth. The conference, planned and sponsored by the YOUTHS Highway Safety Advisory Committee, focused on four main areas: Communicating the problem, "Getting it Together"; crash survivability, "How to Crash"; Alcohol, drugs, and driving, "Rolling Stoned"; and Driver education ,"How Do You Rate". Each of these areas was covered in a workshop of the same name, and are reviewed by the topic chairman in each area inside. A review of the total conference is reported by one of the delegates.
