Abstract:

This project evaluated several methods for measur1ng pilot performance 1n a general aviation simulator and examined the relationship between performance and workload. An Automated Performance Measurement (APM) System was designed for use 1n a flight simulator which was instrumented for digital data collect ion. Performance rating was accomplished by three independent observers. Workload was assessed using real-time subjective input system with which pilots provided workload estimates every minute.
