Abstract:

The Secretary of Transportation is authorized to award military decorations to officers and enlisted personnel of the Coast Guard under similar criteria as that prescribed by the Department of Defense. Today, nine Coast Guard military members are being recognized for extraordinary heroism in many parts of the world. A listing appears at the end of this section of the program booklet indicating other Coast Guard men who have been decorated for heroism or distinguished service in the past year.
