• Abstract:
  Characteristics and requirements for an En Route Radar Display Recording System (ERDIRS) which would record, store and playback air traffic control display data being provided to the National Airspace System Plan View Displays in an Air Route Traffic Control Center were developed. In addition, an ERDIRS Engineering Model was designed and fabricated as a total in-house effort in order to explore various ideas and to provide background and experience to define the details of a field system design. Following the design and concurrent with the fabrication of the engineering model, the system design data for the engineering model was generated, and a functional specification for an operational field version of the ERDIRS was drafted for the Airway Facilities Service.
