Abstract:This report presents results from the 2024 National Occupant Protection Use Survey Controlled Intersection Study, the only nationwide probability-based occupant restraint use survey. NHTSA’s National Center for Statistics and Analysis conducts this survey annually. The 2024 CT study found no significant changes for front-seat belt use and two significant changes for rear-seat belt use, while many historical trends persisted. Specifically for rear-seat belt use, the seat belt use rate of occupants driven by drivers 16 to 24 years old significantly decreased from 71.7 percent in 2023 to 54.3 percent in 2024.
