Abstract:Measurements were made of the wayside noise and ground vibration levels generated during the passby of high-speed Metroliner and Trubo-trains operating on the tracks of the Penn Central Railroad. The Metroliner in operation on the Nnew York-to-Washington line was measured in Plainsboro, New Jersey. The Trubotrain in operationon the Boston-to-New York line was measured in West Manfield, MA. In addition, freight trains and conventional passenter trains were measured and recorded.
This report contains tabulations of the passby noise and vibration levels measured, time history level recordings and 1/3 octave frequency analyses of representative passby data. Pertinent comments on information obtained are included.
