• Abstract:
  Measurements were made of the wayside noise and ground vibration levels generated during the passby of high-speed Metroliner and Trubo-trains operating on the tracks of the Penn Central Railroad. The Metroliner in operation on the Nnew York-to-Washington line was measured in Plainsboro, New Jersey. The Trubotrain in operationon the Boston-to-New York line was measured in West Manfield, MA. In addition, freight trains and conventional passenter trains were measured and recorded. ; This report contains tabulations of the passby noise and vibration levels measured, time history level recordings and 1/3 octave frequency analyses of representative passby data. Pertinent comments on information obtained are included.
