Abstract:

This research offers a comprehensive overview of inland ports in the U.S. aiming to confirm a clear definition and understand their role as intermodal distribution centers. This work uses case studies and public data to establish contributions and strength of inland ports. It addresses the perspectives and challenges and reports on the infrastructure of four of the US inland port locations. This research is pivotal in enhancing our understanding of inland ports' contribution to transportation systems and their growth.
