Abstract:

The logical basis for prioritizing Coast Guard AtoN battery disposal sites for character ; ization and treatment rests with values. The question is, "What does the Coast Guard ; wish to achieve by cleaning up these sites?" Four separate meetings with Coast Guard ; personnel concerned with AtoN battery sites were held to discuss their values for cleanup ; operations. This report presents the results of those discussions in the Appendix. For ; each of those discussions, we converted the list of values stated into objectives useful ; for appraising possible cleanup programs.
