Abstract:Concrete bridge decks frequently experience deterioration caused by heavy traffic loads and harsh environmental conditions. New and more effective methods of repair are required to ensure that concrete bridge decks continue to perform adequately. Bridge deck overlays are a popular deck repair strategy as they increase cover for the deck reinforcing steel and extend the service life of the existing bridge deck. Previous research has demonstrated that ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC) has the potential to serve as an overlay material due to its exceptional characteristics such as high compressive strength, increased flexural strength, and improved durability properties.
