Abstract:The purpose of this study was to optimize the design of SDHPT metal beam guard fence GF(TD)-87, in terms of safety and cost. Parameters evaluated in the study included use of the BARRIER VII computer program was made in the evaluation of these parameters. As a result of the computer study, it was concluded that the present design could be optimized by increasing the post spacing from 6 ft-3 in. to 8 ft-4 in. thus eliminating 25 percent of the posts in a guard fence installation. All other details remain unchanged.
