Abstract:A questionnaire survey was conducted of state and local highway engineers and law enforcement personnel in an attempt to qualitatively determine the nature of wrong-way driving in Texas. In general, these officials considered the greatest problem with respect to wrong-way driving to be that of the drinking, drunk, or drugged driver. They also suggested that wrong-way driving should be confronted through engineering, enforcement, and education, and that better approaches and techniques for reducing it were desired.
