Abstract:This report was developed from a research project conducted by the Texas Transportation Institute in cooperation with the Texas Highway Department. The general objectives of the research project were to evaluate the effects of design, signing, delineation, and illumination of channelization on the factors of safety, efficiency of operation, and capacity. The specific phases of research covered in this report dealt with the signing and delineation of channelization, and with the effect of channelization and approach-end treatment on certain characteristics of driver behavior.
