Abstract:The purpose of the studies was to measure the effects that construction of a segment of the Interstate Highway System has on local areas and communities by analyzing the changes in land value, land use, business activity, travel patterns, and other general community developments. The study of the Conroe area is one of nine studies conducted under the project agreement. Intensive "before and after" studies have been completed and reports published for eight other areas-Austin, Temple, Rockwall, Waxahachie, Merkel, Houston, Huntsville, and Chambers County.
