This student exercise book has been developed for use as an interactive teaching tool and a companion workbook for NHI Course No. 13239 - Module 9 "Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering", and is not intended to be used as an individual exercise book. The extents and depths of the problems presented in this exercise book are limited due to the time constraint of the 2.5-day course schedule. Detailed design examples illustrating the principles and analyses of geotechnical earthquake engineering are included in Part II of Module 9 "Geotechnical Earthquake Engineering" Reference Manual (FHWA-ED-99-012).
