Abstract:This Guide presents information required to use TWOPAS a microscopic computer simulation model of traffic on two-lane, two-way highways. The TWOPAS model simulates traffic operations on two-lane highways by reviewing the position, speed, and acceleration of each individual vehicle on a simulated roadway and advancing those vehicles along the roadway in a realistic manner. TWOPAS has the capability to simulate both conventional two-lane highways and two-lane highways with added passing lanes. This Guide documents the input formats for geometric, traffic, and vehicle data needed to run the TWOPAS model and the types of output obtained from the model. The TWOPAS model is written in FORTRAN and is intended to run on an IBM mainframe computer.
