  • Abstract:
Automated, connected, electric, and shared (ACES) technologies are rapidly evolving and will continue to impact the development of vehicles, infrastructure, communities, commerce, and the economy. Based on the Florida ACES transportation system roadmap for Florida developed in Phase I, this project aimed to engage with private industries to leverage Florida’s ACES expertise and promote the Florida ACES program, manage and maintain the Florida ACES roadmap, continue outreach to transportation professionals, and transfer the Florida ACES Database and Activity Viewer to FDOT. To achieve the project objectives, the research team reached out to 37 private companies, conducted 14 stakeholder meetings to showcase the ACES initiative, and gauged the interest of industry partners to provide ACES projects. The research team also engaged with private industry during the 2021 Florida Automated Vehicles Summit and the 7th Annual UTC Conference for the Southeastern Region. A total of 24 new ACES projects were collected and added to the Florida ACES Database and Activity Viewer during the project period. The technical transfer to migrate the ACES roadmap from USF to FDOT was conducted, including (1) Florida ACES technical manual, (2) ACES deployment items and environment, (3) cloud service accounts, (4) source codes, and (5) ACES training materials and videos. This project successfully planned, coordinated, and transferred the Florida ACES Database and Activity Viewer and associated management, operations, and maintenance from CUTR to FDOT. The results, products, and tools developed from this project will support FDOT for the rapid development, implementation, and evaluation of ACES technologies and the collaboration among research, development, testing, deployment, demonstration, evaluation, and educational initiatives in the ACES area.
