Abstract:This project aims to develop a framework for quantifying the environmental sustainability due to the introduction of new-generation vehicle technologies. In this study, automatic emergency braking (AEB) system is selected as an example for in-depth analysis. Its effectiveness on the traffic system as a whole, especially in terms of energy consumption and tailpipe emissions, is evaluated as the results of mitigation of traffic accidents.
