Volpe, The National Transportation Systems Center, computed noise levels for a list of aircraft on behalf of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The purpose of the analysis was to inform noise impact analyses for polar bears and walruses on Alaska’s North Shore. Volpe utilized the Federal Aviation Administration’s Aviation Environmental Design Tool (AEDT) to compute noise levels for fixed wing aircraft and rotorcraft performing various operations at a range of altitudes.
