Abstract:In a letter to RDML Tim Gallaudet, Deputy Administrator of NOAA and Chair of the CMTS Coordinating Board dated September 16, 2019, the North Slope Bureau, the Alaska Eskimo Whaling Commission, and the Arctic Waterways Safety Committee asked the CMTS to develop an inventory of Federal communications capabilities in the U.S. Arctic. The response dated July 10, 2020 provided the inventory which indicated that Federal communications in the U.S. Arctic are primarily related to search and rescue efforts, weather forecasting and environmental observations, and defense operations.
