Abstract:A new methodology to estimate the unknown pile length called Effective Dispersion Analysis of Reflections (EDAR) is developed. EDAR explicitly incorporates the dispersion properties of the wave generated on hammer impact to provide a length estimate. A software package is developed for seamless application of the EDAR methodology facilitating fata acquisition in the field and subsequent analysis of the data to estimate the pile length. EDAR is validated successfully in laboratory and field conditions in North Carolina. The report contains the details of EDAR application for prestressed concrete piles including details of testing equipment, testing, stepwise analysis procedure, and the underlying theory.
