Abstract:

This publication represents the 1986 compilation of accident reports submitted to the Federal Highway Administration's Office of Motor Carriers (OMC) by motor carriers of property in interstate or foreign commerce .These accident reports are a vital source of information upon which the OMC relies in administering its regulatory and enforcement responsibilities. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) require accident reports to be filed whenever an accident occurs that involves a motor vehicle operated by a motor carrier subject to the Department of Transportation Act and meeting the established reporting criteria.
