• Abstract:
  The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) William J. Hughes Technical Center is
  
  in the unique position of having the facilities designed to test Mode S radars
  
  and transponders. A vendor supplied an early production model of a Mode S
  
  transponder for testing. Laboratory and flight tests were conducted during the
  
  summer of 1996 at the Technical Center. This report provides a description of
